Film Studio Development

With the rise in streaming services and production companies spending more money than ever on producing unique content, studio space is at an ever-increasing premium on a global scale. Previously booked up only 70% capacity on average, soundstages are now running at full capacity, with production companies signing long-term leases to ensure they have access to the much-needed studio space. Yet across major production hubs such as Los Angeles, Toronto, and London, soundstage supply is not increasing in line with demand. Even with several major new studios planned, it is predicted that the UK film industry alone will be short 2.3 million square feet of soundstages by 2033.

Lagonda Studios aims to meet this demand with our unique ‘Studio in a Box’ concept, bringing studios to life in both established and exciting new locations as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Identifying the best-possible areas in which to site a studio, no detail is overlooked; as well as evaluating opportunities for sound stage, digital hub, backlot, and production services, we consider everything from transport infrastructure, local economies and workforces, support from the area’s chamber of commerce, and security, to the more fundamental questions of the most desirable places for talent and crew to live and work. The location is then scoured to identify sites with the greatest potential, working closely with local authorities to establish strong relationships to ensure a smooth process at the planning stage. After the perfect site is chosen and approved, Lagonda Studios handles the land acquisition
